In the mid-nineties, while at the Cannon Beach Conference Center, I woke one morning with the following Bible reference going through my mind: Matthew 16:19.  It reads, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

While studying this, I received another verse that would be a key to the ministry God was leading me into: Matthew 12:29.  It reads, "Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house."

These verses opened my eyes to see that we have the legal authority in Jesus' Name to bind the works of darkness in our own lives and in others we pray for.  We also have the authority to loose ourselves and others from the effects of sin.
